Visa’s $2.4 Billion BioCatch Buyout Could Transform Fraud Defense!
Visa Inc. has agreed to acquire BioCatch from funds advised by Permira for $2.4 billion, extending its expansion beyond payment processing into behavioral fraud intelligence and digital identity protection. Announced on August 3, 2026, the transaction is expected to close by the end of Visa’s fiscal second quarter of 2027, subject to customary conditions. BioCatch analyzes behavioral and device-level signals to identify suspicious intent during digital banking sessions, helping financial institutions address account takeovers, scams, money-mule activity, and application fraud. The proposed acquisition follows a strong fiscal third quarter in which Visa generated $11.6 billion of net revenue, processed 72 billion transactions, and recorded more than $4 trillion in payments volume. Value-added services revenue also increased 34% in constant currency to $3.8 billion, reinforcing management’s strategy of building higher-growth services around Visa’s network.
