Molson Coors Ignites a Massive Portfolio Power Shift—Is ‘Beyond Beer’ the Next Gold Rush?

Molson Coors Beverage Company reported its third-quarter fiscal year 2025 results amid challenges in the broader beer industry, with performance heavily impacted by macroeconomic factors. Consolidated net sales revenue declined by 3.3%, while underlying pretax income fell 11.9% and underlying earnings per share decreased by 7.2%. The industry volatility, particularly in the U.S., saw a disproportionate effect on lower income and Hispanic consumers, driving a reduction in buyer numbers and spend per trip. One of the primary issues was the softness in beer market demand across Europe and increased competition, contributing to EMEA and APAC volume pressures. Additionally, the Midwest premium pricing trended higher, impacting costs further. There was also a notable non-cash partial goodwill impairment of $3.6 billion and intangible assets impairment charges of $274 million. Molson Coors did report some bright spots within its portfolio.
