Academy Sports and Outdoors: Building a Diversified Growth Model Across Stores, Loyalty, and Brand Partnerships!
Academy Sports and Outdoors reported modest growth in its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2025 results, navigating a challenging economic environment with a strategic focus on margin improvement, inventory management, and digital transformation. For the quarter, sales reached $1.7 billion, reflecting a 2.5% increase year-over-year, although comparable store sales declined by 1.6%, affected partly by significant store closures due to severe weather conditions in January. Despite these closures, the company estimates the weather-related disruptions cost approximately 100 basis points in comp sales, with business rebounding strongly upon reopening. For the full year, Academy Sports and Outdoors achieved $6.05 billion in net sales, a 2% increase versus the prior year, capturing solid market share gains. Gross margins improved by 90 basis points to 34.8%, supported by a 6% increase in average unit retail prices implemented through pricing optimization and product mix enhancement.
