Rush Enterprises: Medium-Duty Weakness vs Heavy-Duty Strength—A Split Demand Outlook!
Rush Enterprises, Inc. reported revenues of $7.4 billion and net income of $263.8 million, or $3.27 per diluted share, for the full year 2025, with fourth-quarter revenues at $1.8 billion and net income of $64.3 million or $0.81 per diluted share. The company’s Board approved a quarterly cash dividend of $0.19 per share. The 2025 commercial vehicle industry faced ongoing challenges including depressed freight rates, excess capacity, and uncertainty related to trade policies and emissions regulations, factors that negatively affected demand for new trucks, particularly in the over-the-road segment, as well as aftermarket sales. Despite these headwinds, Rush Enterprises maintained operational discipline, strong cash flow generation, and expense management while continuing to invest in strategic growth initiatives. Expansion efforts included acquiring IC bus dealerships in multiple Canadian provinces and adding a Peterbilt dealership in Tennessee, enhancing the company’s geographic footprint and customer service capabilities.
