IPG Photonics’ Industrial Solutions Surge: 21% Growth Meets Tariff Pressure!
IPG Photonics reported first quarter 2026 revenue of $265 million, marking a 17% increase year-over-year and surpassing expectations. The company implemented a new revenue reporting framework distinguishing two primary segments: Industrial Solutions and Advanced Solutions. Industrial Solutions, comprising 86% of total sales, grew 21% year-over-year, driven by heightened demand in welding, cutting, cleaning, marking, and additive manufacturing, notably supported by battery manufacturing applications for electric vehicles and stationary storage. Sequentially, this segment’s revenue remained relatively flat, moving against typical seasonal trends due to business wins, particularly in cutting and additive manufacturing. Advanced Solutions, accounting for 14% of revenue, declined modestly year-over-year as growth in medical and semiconductor applications was offset by softness in micromachining tied to cyclical solar cell manufacturing demand. Sequential quarter revenue fell 13%, mainly from medical sales following an exceptionally strong fourth quarter of 2025.
