Circle’s $400M Tazapay Acquisition Could Strengthen Its Fintech Moat!
Circle Internet Group is preparing to broaden its payments footprint through an agreement to acquire Singapore-based Tazapay, a cross-border payments infrastructure provider processing more than $25 billion in annualized payment volume as of July 31, 2026. The transaction, reported at roughly $400 million in Circle Class A common stock, is expected to close in 2027, although the companies did not publicly disclose detailed financial terms in their announcement. Tazapay also brings relationships with more than 60 banking and fintech partners, potentially giving Circle a wider distribution layer for USDC, its Circle Payments Network, and other payment infrastructure. The timing is notable because Circle is simultaneously expanding beyond reserve-income economics toward transaction-based infrastructure, Arc, programmable payments, and cross-border settlement. Management has said CPN already has more than 175 participating financial institutions and sees stablecoins increasingly being used not merely as settlement instruments but also as destination money in international payments.
