GitLab’s Agentic Engineering Push: Is Duo The Next Big DevSecOps Story?
GitLab Inc. reported first quarter fiscal year 2027 results, demonstrating continued growth amid a challenging macroeconomic backdrop and industry transitions. The company generated $264 million in revenue, marking a 23% year-over-year increase and outperforming guidance by 4 points. Operating profit on a non-GAAP basis reached $38 million with a 14% operating margin, a 200 basis point improvement year-over-year. GitLab’s customer base grew, with 1,519 customers paying over $100,000 annually—an 18% increase—accounting for more than 75% of annual recurring revenue (ARR). Dollar-based net retention stood at 117%, supported by resilience in large enterprise customers, although contraction and seat reductions impacted approximately 20% of ARR tied to price-sensitive mid-market and SMB segments. The company highlighted strength in its core enterprise DevSecOps business and the Duo Agent platform (DAP), which contributed more net new ARR in its first quarter than comparable products from past periods, signaling early traction in its AI-enhanced workflows.
