Kratos Defense & Security Solutions: Initiation Of Coverage – $2 Billion Backlog Signals A Stronger Defense Demand Cycle!
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions reported a first quarter 2026 performance that exceeded its own financial forecasts, driven largely by organic growth across multiple core divisions, including Unmanned Systems, Turbine Technologies, and Microwave Electronics. The company posted revenues of $371 million, surpassing the estimated range of $335 million to $345 million, with organic growth of 15.8% excluding acquisitions. Adjusted EBITDA reached $38.7 million, exceeding guidance due to strong execution and favorable product mix. Notable organic growth rates were reported in Defense and Rocket Support (45.8%), Unmanned Systems (30.9%), Turbine Technologies (20.3%), and Microwave Products (12.3%). A backlog of $2 billion and an opportunity pipeline exceeding $14 billion highlight the company’s expanding market prospects within the U.S. Department of War and allied customers. The book-to-bill ratio stood at 1.6:1 overall, with the satellite business achieving an even stronger 3:1 ratio. The space and satellite segment, especially the OpenSpace software platform for satellite command and control, is positioned for significant growth and margin expansion, supported by recent prime contracts such as the $447 million U.S. Space Force award. Kratos’ emphasis on affordability, rapid technology development, and dual-use commercial and national security applications reflects its strategic approach to the evolving defense landscape.
