Coherent’s Optical Inflection Point: How CPO and 1.6T Transceivers Are Redefining the Growth Curve!
Coherent, a prominent player in photonic technology and solutions, reported noteworthy results for its second quarter of fiscal year 2026. The company’s performance is mainly driven by a robust demand surge from the AI data center sector, which has significantly boosted its revenue and profit margins. The firm experienced over 4x book-to-bill ratios indicating strong forward visibility, characterized by a remarkable increase in bookings extending into future fiscal years. This development strongly positions Coherent for sustained growth as the company effectively ramps up its production capabilities to meet burgeoning demand. One key highlight is the impressive 22% year-over-year revenue growth, achieved on a pro forma basis excluding divested operations. Non-GAAP EPS also showed substantial improvement, surging 35% year-over-year. This financial growth was fueled by a notable acceleration in demand for 800 gig and 1.6T transceivers, alongside new product rollouts such as Optical Circuit Switches (OCS) and Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) solutions.
