Urban Outfitters’ $1.5 Billion Quarter: Can Nuuly Keep Saving The Day?
Urban Outfitters, Inc. reported its first quarter fiscal year 2027 results marked by record quarterly sales and earnings per share, continuing a streak of seven consecutive quarters of growth. Net sales increased by 11% to $1.5 billion, while EPS rose by 12% to $1.30. The company’s diversified brand portfolio drove these results, with all retail segment brands generating positive comparable sales. The Free People Group, comprising Free People and FP Movement, posted particularly strong growth, alongside contributions from Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, the subscription service Nuuly, and the wholesale segment. From a brand perspective, Anthropologie experienced a challenging start to the quarter but improved in March and April with positive comps driven by women’s apparel, footwear, and home categories. Urban Outfitters showed robust growth with an 11% increase in sales and a 9% retail segment comp, supported by successful marketing initiatives and expansion of digital and store traffic.
