Landstar System’s Heavy Haul Revenue Rose 18% On Data Center And Energy Demand!

Landstar System, Inc. reported its first-quarter 2026 results reflecting modest revenue growth and operational improvements amid ongoing challenges within the freight transportation environment. Revenue increased approximately 2% year-over-year, with gross profit up 14% and variable contribution dollars growing by 7%. Earnings per share improved by about 36%, aided by a lower insurance and claims cost compared to the prior year, which had been impacted by a supply chain fraud matter. The company highlighted strength in its unsided platform equipment segment, particularly its heavy-haul service offering, which posted an 18% revenue increase driven by a 12% rise in revenue per heavy haul load and 6% volume growth. This segment’s performance was bolstered by broad-based industry demand, including data center, energy, government, machinery, aerospace, and defense sectors. However, overall BCO (Business Capacity Owner) truck count slightly declined by 2% year-over-year and 0.4% sequentially.
