SoundHound AI’s $500 Million Question: Can LivePerson Supercharge Its AI Ambitions?

SoundHound Inc. reported first-quarter 2026 revenue of $44.2 million, reflecting a 52% year-over-year increase. The company’s growth was broad-based across multiple verticals, with notable momentum in financial services, automotive, healthcare, restaurants, and technology sectors. Excluding recent acquisitions, SoundHound’s automotive and IoT artificial intelligence (AI) business grew 88% year-over-year. The enterprise AI business remains the largest contributor to revenue, supported by strong customer diversification with no single customer exceeding 10% of revenues. During the quarter, SoundHound entered into a definitive agreement to acquire LivePerson, a digital messaging and conversational AI company serving hundreds of enterprise and mid-market customers globally. The planned acquisition, expected to close in the second half of 2026, would further expand SoundHound’s customer base across over 30 countries and include significant penetration in financial services, transportation, telecommunications, and other industries. The combined company expects to reach $500 million in revenue based on the existing customer base alone.
