FAQs

How do I use the Trade Ideas table?

Baptista Research’s Trade Ideas is one of the simplest offerings in the market today. All that you need to do is to understand the table you see on your Dashboard in order to get to build a solid portfolio and generate alpha returns. Here is an example:

As a subscriber, you are concerned with the positions marked as ‘Active’ so the first thing you need to do is check the ‘Status’ column. We see the ideas of DuPont de Nemours and Corning as active ideas.

We see that both are ‘Long’ recommendations which means that we are expecting the stock price to go up and that you can profit off buying the stock.

Alternatively, an idea can be a ‘Short’ recommendation which means that we are expecting the stock price to go down and that you can profit off short selling the stock.

We provide an entry price range. You can provide any price within this range to your broker as the point to enter your position in the stock.

All trades have a clearly defined Target Price and a Stop Loss price in case the trade doesn’t perform, in order to minimize your downside risk. These numbers are often revised in case a trade works. For example if DuPont de Nemours hits its $60 target and our analysts expect it to go to $70, we will change the Target Price to $70 and also the Stop Loss to say $55 so that your downside is protected.

You will be notified by email each time we add a new trade, change the target price or change the stop loss price of an existing trade, or close any trade.

However, we DO NOT provide instant alerts as to when the stock price hits the target/ stop loss point on any given trading day. You are required to have that setting in your trading software/ use a stock price alert service for the same. Please make sure that you change your email settings so as to prevent our mails from getting blocked/ going to the Spam folder or any other unused folder.

We strongly encourage you to communicate the Target Price & the Stop Loss price to your broker.

For what do I get email notifications?

You will be notified by email each time we add a new trade, change the target price or change the stop loss price of an existing trade, or close any trade.

However, we DO NOT provide instant alerts as to when the stock price hits the target/ stop loss point on any given trading day. You are required to have that setting in your trading software/ use a stock price alert service for the same. Please make sure that you change your email settings so as to prevent our mails from getting blocked/ going to the Spam folder or any other unused folder.

We strongly encourage you to communicate the Target Price & the Stop Loss price to your broker.

I see an idea with an ‘Active’ status but the current stock price is not within the Entry Price range? Why?

The meaning of a trade idea being ‘Active’ is that it continues to be a feasible trade. It does not mean that the stock price is necessarily between the Entry Price range.

To make the most of the idea, you should ideally provide any price within this range to your broker as the point to enter your position in the stock.

How often do you update the Trade Ideas table?

We do not believe in providing any trade idea unless we have 100% conviction in the same. The number of trade ideas also depend on the market condition. In most services, we look to provide an average of 2-3 stock picks per month. Hence, the table is updated 2-3 times for each service. You will receive an email notification each time the table is updated.

You gave 4 trade ideas last month and no trade ideas this month? Why?

We do not believe in providing any trade idea unless we have 100% conviction in the same. The number of trade ideas also depend on the market condition. In most services, we look to provide an average of 2-3 stock picks per month. Hence, the table is updated 2-3 times per month for each service. However, that is the annual average. For example, in a bull market, short recommendations will be few as they might not generate returns in the near term so the ‘Overpriced Shorts’ product may have fewer recommendations. You will receive an email notification each time the table is updated.

Do you provide Intraday Trading recommendations?

No. We do not provide intraday recommendations. All our short term trade ideas usually have a minimum holding period of a week to 10 days.

What is the ideal Trade Ideas product for me?

You can see the description of the products along with the risk appetite on this link. Please select the product based on your frequency of trading and your risk appetite.

What returns can I expect on any given trade idea?

You can see the description of the products along with the expected returns on each of them on every product page. Please select the product based on your frequency of trading and your risk appetite. However, it is important for you to know that past performances are no guarantee of future returns. Please read our Disclaimer section.

Can I use your leverage and carry out the same trades using futures and options?

Yes. Our trade ideas are specific to the price movements of the underlying stocks. However, traders are free to use leverage and trade on future and options to generate a higher return on their invested capital. However, they must be aware that the leverage would entail a higher level of risk for each trade.

How do I close an active position?

We strongly recommend you to communicate the target price of any position you initiate to your broker so that you can realize the maximum profitability of any trade. If the target price of any position is updated, we shall send you an email notification.
