Generac Acquisition Strategy Gets Serious With Belvidere Expansion!

Generac is moving deeper into the large-megawatt backup power market at a time when data centers and mission-critical infrastructure are driving a sharp increase in demand for reliable power systems. The company recently announced the acquisition of a facility in Belvidere, Illinois, aimed at expanding packaging capacity for large-megawatt generators, with operations expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and more than 100 new jobs planned. This follows its April 2026 acquisition of Enercon, which added generator enclosure, switchgear, and packaging expertise. The timing is notable: Generac’s Q1 2026 C&I sales rose 28% year over year, data center backlog exceeded $700 million, and management disclosed a nonbinding notice to proceed for about $600 million of 2027 deliveries from a hyperscale customer. Belvidere could therefore become a key capacity lever as Generac tries to convert growing hyperscale interest into actual shipment scale.
