The New York Times Company reported its first quarter results for 2026, demonstrating continued momentum across its digital subscription base, advertising revenues, and content expansion initiatives. The company added 310,000 net new digital-only subscribers, bringing the total digital subscriber base to over 13 million, moving closer to the midterm target of 15 million. Digital-only subscription revenue grew approximately 16% year-over-year to $389 million, driven by both subscriber growth and a 2.4% rise in average revenue per user (ARPU), reflecting successful pricing strategies and transitions from promotional rates. Total subscription revenues increased 11.3% to about $517 million, exceeding prior guidance. Advertising revenue also saw significant growth, with digital advertising up roughly 32% to $93 million and total advertising revenue increasing 17% to $127 million.
